Bis(η<sup>5</sup>-cyclopentadienyl)dichloridotitanium(IV) is a widely used early transition metal complex with applications in organic synthesis, catalysis, and polymer and medicinal chemistries. Despite the wide utilization of this complex, there are no standard teaching laboratory procedures currently reported for it. This teaching-laboratory-style procedure is presented as an accessible alternative to classic metallocene targets. A streamlined procedure and work-up protocol has been developed enabling student groups to complete all steps from cyclopentadiene distillation to product isolation and characterization within a single laboratory session. Student characterization of purified product is completed with a variety of spectroscopic techniques. Several applications tests have also been explored as extensions to spark student interest in the multitude of uses of this complex.
