A techno-economic analysis of electrochemical ammonia production method using a solid acid electrochemical cell was conducted. This analysis shows that such a production method can make ammonia less expensively than the traditional Haber-Bosch method by effectively leveraging modularity, distribution of production, and low-cost electricity. Subsequently, ammonia can be efficiently converted into hydrogen by another solid acid electrochemical process, effectively demonstrating an economically viable path for the implementation of ammonia as a sustainable hydrogen vector.
