MIT.nano operates 24/7 and is home to facility-intensive research labs, including cleanrooms and high-performance characterization spaces, designed to support high hazard research. The MIT.nano Emergency Response Team (ERT) provides reliable, technical expertise during emergencies, which is a complement to the integration of building-wide safety systems and safety-focused lab operations. This presentation will focus on the ERT framework that has been developed to provide 24/7 on-call emergency response support to MIT.nano labs, as well as the lessons learned from growing and managing a voluntary team in parallel with the start-up of a shared research facility.
