Microencapsulation technology has been employed in a wide range of industrial sectors including the pharmaceutical, engineering, energetic, and biotechnological fields. A large variety of active molecules like drugs, flavors, fragrances, dyes, pesticides, and vitamins have been encapsulated inside polymeric shell capsules ranging in size from one micron to a few millimeters. The main technology to create the shell is based on the reaction of melamine and formaldehyde that produce a crosslinked thermoset at the oil/water interface.<br/>Recently, environmental concerns regarding non-degradable microplastic wastes have become a global issue. During the last few years, enormous attention has been given to poly(β-aminoester). This polymer has been successfully utilized in several biomedical applications due to its biocompatibility, biodegradability, and responsiveness.<br/>Our research has explored and introduced new applications for poly(β-aminoester) as a non-toxic and biodegradable microcapsule-shell that is compatible with cosmetic applications.A range of molecules have been successfully encapsulated without side reactions.
