Here we report on the influence of the crystallinity of nanostructures on the thermal conductivity of nanofluids. The thermal conductivities of polycrystalline and monocrystalline NiO nanowire-containing oil-based nanofluids have been estimated at the MD level-of-theory and compared, and significant differences are found. Our findings suggest that crystallinity of the nanostructures should be taken into account on the experimental preparation of nanofluids samples that are intended for future heat transfer and thermal management application.
