Phosphorus (P) is a valuable element, especially to ensure the global food and water security. The excess of this nutrient, in aquatic environments, cause eutrophication, and the use of biochar is a possibility to solve this. This work aimed to evaluate the phosphorus adsorption by Ca-biochar. Sawdust with calcium was pyrolyzed at 5 °C min-1, 450 °C and no residence time. The adsorption experiments were done using 0.1 g of biochar, 10 mg L-1of P, and mixed by 24 h. The P adsorption was 4.66 mg g-1 and the removal percentage was 93.5%, showing a high potentiality in the phosphorus adsorption.
