Plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO)is a technique generally used for the surface treatment of metals by electrolysis in an aqueous medium. This condition favors modification of the electrolyte solution and the doping of the oxide film with ions or particles contained in the electrolyte. We propose the use of a mixed solution of sodium alginate (a watersoluble polymer) and KOH as an electrolytic solution for the synthesis by the powder of doped Nb2O5 film, in a potential application as a material with optimized mechanical and/or photocatalytic properties. The study was carried out at different processing times at a concentration of 0.5% by mass in an aqueous solution of 0.1 mol.L-1 potassium hydroxide. Different sample conditions impacted a different electrochemical response and the morphological structure of the film.
