The cyclic alkyl(amino) carbene (cAAC) stabilized phosphinidenes in the form of chloro- phosphinidene1, bis-phosphinidenes2, and alkali metal phosphinidenides3 are thriving synthons in synthesis of hetero-diatomic main group compounds. We have utilized the alkali-metal phosphinidenides with halo- borane and stibane to synthesise cAAC-stabilized (boryl)phosphinidenes [cAAC=P-B(N(iPr)2)2] and (stibanyl)phosphinidenes [cAAC=P-Sb(Tip)2] (Tip = 2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl), respectively (Scheme 1). The photo-physical properties of the (boryl)- and (stibanyl)phosphinidenes have been studied in solution and solid-state. The reported compounds illuminate bright green light in their solid and liquid state upon irradiation with UV-365 nm light. Cyclic Voltammetry confirmed one electron quasi-reversible reduction of compounds.
