The field of anion recognition and sensing by synthetic molecular receptors has become one of the most important area of supramolecular chemistry1-2. Fluoride anion recognition is attracting a mounting interest in the scientific community due to its duplicitous nature. It is a useful chemical for many industrial applications, and it has been used in human diet, but, recently it has been accused for several human pathologies. Acetic acid is the second simplest carboxylic acid. It is an important chemical reagent and industrial chemical, used primarily in the production of cellulose acetate for photographic film, polyvinyl acetate for wood glue, and synthetic fibres and fabrics. Receptors with linear geometries are confirmationally more fluxional thereby more viable to fit the size and shape of the anions/cations. This work focuses on anion responsive acyclic oligopyrrole system, particularly the N-Confused N-methyl pyrrole tripyrrane, their synthesis, characterization and interaction with various anion like fluoride and acetate anions in organic media. The high selectivity of F− and CH3COO- anions as a guest for acyclic oligopyrrole receptors was also ascribed due to their more electronegative behavior and which are able to induce the binding affinity with the N−H moiety of receptor.
