A better understanding of COVID-19 at the molecular level is required to improve the prediction and treatment of this devastating disease. The wide inter-individual variability in response to SARS-CoV-2 infection provides a unique opportunity to address this challenge.
The Québec COVID-19 Biobank (BQC19) was created in March 2020 with the mission to contribute to better understand the susceptibility, severity and outcome of COVID-19. BQC19 is a prospective, multicenter, observational, case-control study, jointly funded by the Québec provincial government and the Public Health Agency of Canada. More than 3500 patients have so far provided their biomedical data and blood samples to BQC19. A multi-*omic panel including proteomic, metabolomic, transcriptomic, genomic and immunologic analyses is underway for 2000 samples. Analyses performed so far have contributed to the discovery of genomic determinants of COVID-19 and molecular signatures of the disease, published in 13 articles. Data and samples are available to the research community, and requests for data and samples can be addressed using the BQC19 website (https://en.quebeccovidbiobank.ca).
