AbstractIn this white paper, we will discuss how one Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) is providing leading edge technology in the rail sector to track and audit maintenance work using mobility tools, state of art heads up virtual reality (VR) displays, augmented reality expertise, and the Internet of Things (IoT) to bolster predictive maintenance and simulate asset performance based on different scenarios.Strategic Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) is an approach through which an organization’s assets are strategically and proactively managed throughout their lifecycle - from installation through disposition. The objective of EAM is to prolong the service life and maximize utilization of the assets via adoption of leading-edge standards, practices, and technology. Successful EAM leverages International Standards Organization (ISO) 55000 &amp; The Institute of Asset Management (IAM) 2.0 standards and implements predictive, proactive and reliability centered maintenance practices combined with modern technology that incorporates artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) capabilities. Organizations that implement EAM benefit from reduced operating expenses (OPEX), reduced capital replacement expenses (CAPEX), increased uptime, and overall higher quality asset capability within their portfolio.The rail sector is a vital component within any national transportation infrastructure. Considering the accumulated worldwide operational track length of each of national railway segment, the sheer cost and volume of physical equipment required to keep these segments operational is massive (i.e. rolling stock, signaling, rails, networking, etc.). To maintain a state of good repair and compliance with local and national regulations, every asset should be inventoried, tracked, managed, and maintained - hence all EAM activities are critical. As wayside assets age they require efficient and cost effective on-going maintenance and upgrades that will not impact operations.EAM will benefit greatly from the world’s rapid transformation into IoT. As rail and transit assets become outfitted with interconnected intelligent sensors, whose outputs are collected via active and passive devices, real-time data is available for EAM systems to track, plan and upgrade work field assets. EAM will leverage the IoT revolution to provide critical information to operations in planning railway management scenarios; including predictive maintenance functionality, and edge analytics - a way to pre-process the data so that only the pertinent information is sent to the management system.EAM provides three types of critical data: performance metrics, asset information, and as asset failure patterns. With these three types of data the EAM helps maintenance operations reduce failure, lower maintenance costs, minimize downtime, reduce energy consumption and minimize time-to-repair. By establishing benchmarks, the EAM tracks progress allowing transit agencies to set priorities and use their funds effectively and efficiently in attaining their Transportation Asset Management Plan (TAMP) and Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) goals and objectives.

This platform will collect and provide long-term access to conference presentation videos, encompassing all technology areas within ASME's technical conference and events program. About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
