Determine and control the impact of rolling stock on the railway track one of the significate subject of railway engineering, especially with the development of heavy traffic and the development of innovative freight cars with increased axle loads. As Different methods have been utilised to measure the lateral impact of rolling stock on a railway track as an example, in Russia, Schlumpf method and OP Ershkov method as all these methods are based on the use of strain gages installed on the rail neck, differ in the location of strain gauges and the specifics of processing the received signals. When using these methods, the lateral force arising from the interaction of the wheel and the rail is determined instantaneously only, at the moment the wheel is positioned over the sections of the strain gauges, therefore, continuous registration of forces in the wheel/rail contact is impossible and to obtain statistically reliable results, multiple passes of the test rolling stock along the measuring section are required. Also, measured results depend on the speed of movement and the sampling frequency of the measuring equipment.In the suggested technology the finite element method has been used to continuous recording of lateral forces from the wheel/rail interaction by measuring stresses in two sections of the rail on a significant part of the sleeper space. The experiments on the railway track by installing eight strain gauges at heights of 67.5 and 72.5 mm from the rail base in two vertical cross-sections, the distance between them is 440 mm, located symmetrically relative to the vertical central transverse plane of the sleepers gap, approved the ability of this method to restore the lateral force of not more than 4% standard deviation along the length of the measuring zone of about 140 mm.The developed method of continuous recording of lateral loads from the wheel/rail interaction by measuring stresses in two sections of the rail will increase the volume of reliable statistical data obtained, improve the measurement accuracy, reduce the time and cost.
