Generator step-up&nbsp;transformer&nbsp;is one of the major&nbsp;and key equipment of electricity&nbsp;output in nuclear power station.&nbsp;The main transformer of current&nbsp;Nuclear Power station&nbsp;belongs to the high-capacity oil-immersed power transformer with ultra-high voltage.&nbsp;The general design lifetime of oil-immersed power transformer&nbsp;is&nbsp;30 years, the actual lifetime is 20 to 40 years. The overall design&nbsp;operating lifetime&nbsp;of nuclear power stations constructed or scheduled to be constructed currently is 40 years. Therefore it is necessary to consider, analysis the aging mechanism and predict the lifetime of main transformer.In this paper, the necessity of Remaining Useful Lifetime(RUL) prediction of main power transformer in nuclear power station&nbsp;is introduced. According to a comprehensive collection and analysis of operation status of main transformers, the aging condition of solid insulation fiber&nbsp;is&nbsp;found to be the main factor determining the transformer's RUL prediction. The aging mechanism of solid insulation fiber materials and the sensitive&nbsp;factors affecting the aging rate are screened out through the relative guidelines and literature. Then two kinds of filtering method for forecast RUL, particle filter algorithm&nbsp;and Kalman filter, are introduced. Combining the filtering methods and different aging mechanisms, particle filter algorithms&nbsp;based on degradation rate&nbsp;and IEC empirical formula are proposed.&nbsp;The basic Kalman filter is also used to predict the RUL.&nbsp;Preliminary analysis of the results, which is obtained by comparing&nbsp;three methods, shows that the particle filter algorithm combined&nbsp;degradation rate&nbsp;performs well&nbsp;in life prediction.&nbsp;Based on the results of analysis and evaluation,&nbsp;a&nbsp;further aging monitoring, improvement and management methods are recommended.
