With the number of Nuclear Power Plants increasing in China, the risk of radioactive material leakage caused by nuclear accidents is also increasing. The half-life of 137Cs is as long as to 30.2 years and can exist in the environment for a long time; it can cause the radioactive radiation to human body, and pose a serious threat to human health. This research was supported by the National Science and Technology Major Project‘Research on Key Technologies for Safety Assessment of CAP1400’(Grant No. 2013ZX06002001), then two kinds of typical soil, brown soil and sandy soil, were selected around the site of Shidaowan demonstration plant of CAP1400 to carry out the migration experiments. The experiment columns were filled by undisturbed soil, the source of adioactivity was provided by atomic High Tech Co., Ltd.; the raining was simulating the local rainfall amount with two sprinklers, and the sunlight was replaced by fluorescent lamp. The vertical leaching migration experiments of 137Cs were conducted to simulate the migration of radionuclides in two kinds of soil after a nuclear accident and to assess the impact on groundwater. The vertical migration model of radionuclides in soil is one-dimensional convective dispersion equation. The results of three-year experiments showed that most of 137Cs in soil were distributed in the range of 0-4cm. The simulation results using the Hydrus 1D with 10 years that most of 137Cs in soil were distributed in the range of 0-10cm, so the nuclear accident caused by the serious nuclides have little impact on groundwater.
