<p>The impact of nuclear accidents has been a topic of debate since the construction of the first nuclear reactors in 1954, and still stands as a key factor to public concern about nuclear facilities. However, technical measures to reduce the risk of accidents and to lower the amount of radioactive materials released to the environment have been adopted. Steam generators are vital components for general plant performance in pressurized water reactors. Steam generator tube rupture accident (SGTR) is one of the more recurrent events in nuclear power plants with the occurrence possibility of about 0.1 to 0.01 per reactor year. According to a survey released by the American Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 1982 indicate 40 out of the 48 power plants in operation in the US experience steam generator accidents of which 8 were recorded as serious conditions. It is recorded that a quarter of the unplanned stopovers of foreign PWR NPP are due to steam generator failure. In this paper, we will use PCTRAN to simulate the steam generator tube rupture accident and also analyse transients and the results in Matlab software&nbsp;to be able to train a neural network that can identify beyond the design transients. This helps operators realise when the generator parameters are beyond the designed normal operation parameters.</p>

This platform will collect and provide long-term access to conference presentation videos, encompassing all technology areas within ASME's technical conference and events program. About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
