Remote Geotechnical Evaluation of Rights of Way of Hydrocarbon Transmission LinesSummaryDue to the current health emergency, in which it was impossible for the specialists to carry out direct inspections of the land, it was necessary to develop techniques and procedures that would allow them to obtain the information from the land remotely, supported by the technology available in communications and recording images with drones and inspection by auxiliary field personnel, directed at a distance by a specialist.First, a preliminary flight plan is defined, based on the experience and knowledge of the terrain by the specialist and from a PC in the field.&nbsp; Once the drone is in the air, the visual information from the drone is transmitted via the Internet. Later which images to record and the sites that require more detail or a direct inspection by the field assistant are determined. Next, using cell phones, the specialists transmit the images of the inspection back to the office. &nbsp;In this way, the specialist's training and experience are essential and the operational ease of the drone and the skill of the field staff are used to full advantage.The article details the procedure and is illustrated with an example.
