<p>Biocomposites can be tailored potentially by carbon nanoparticles to improve their multifunctional properties for a wide variety of applications. The importance of using biodegradable polymers in the industry is mainly to reduce the usage of petroleum-based polymers. Petroleum-based polymers are causing air pollution and creating biohazards because they do not decompose back into the earth. Many companies are trying to help improve the ways to eliminate waste. To limit the amount of waste created on the planet, these companies are looking at more ways to incorporate the use of biodegradable polymers in their businesses. Biodegradable polymers improve the environment by helping to fight against increases in global warming and by improving people’s health. In this study, at first, thin films of PHBV Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) nanocomposites were prepared by adding 0.1- 0.5 % Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs). To make the film, chloroform was used as the solvent for the PHBV and the MWCNT. Sonication help disperse the MWCNT throughout the solvent while magnetic stirring helps mix&nbsp;the solution with the polymer. &nbsp;When adding MWCNT into PHBV, there was an improvement during the following tests: tensile, thermogravimetric analysis, and differential scanning calorimetry. Also, the tested samples were analyzed using the scanning electron microscopes (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) to see how the effect of MWCNT's addition on the surface of PHBV.</p>

Supporting the need among researchers worldwide for additional online and multimedia content, ASME now offers the ASME Conference Video Collection. This platform will collect and provide long-term access to conference presentation videos, encompassing all technology areas within ASME's technical conference and events program. About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
