The success of the global energy transition to intermittent renewable, carbon-free energy sources depends to an overwhelming extent on the availability of efficient, low-cost energy storage media. Subterranean reservoirs can provide an excellent storage solution but are not available to all markets and inventory loss/leakage (esp., of methane) is a serious concern. So, there is a rapidly growing need to improve options for localized storage, bunkering, and transport of green fuels (and, captured CO2).Two key facets to this energy transition are the switch from high carbon fuels to natural gas (which can lower carbon exhaust) and the embracing of sustainable energy sources (esp., solar and wind). The intermittency and location dependence of solar and wind (and wave) energy supplies demands the means for efficient energy storage &amp; transport globally. Those demands augment the need for distributed/localized natural gas storage that has grown in the power generation and gas pipeline industries over recent years due to pushback against pipeline expansions (particularly in the US NE and Europe). In addition, the maritime industry is under extreme pressure to switch to greener, zero-carbon fuels – even while it is delivering liquefied natural gas (LNG) to more and smaller markets every year.This presentation introduces an innovative containment technology for LNG bunkering and small-to-moderate scale storage/transport. ezNG Solutions' cellular arrays provide pressure competency and highly efficient utilization of materials and hull space to reduce costs for storage and transport of LNG or other cold liquids (e.g., LPGs, NH3, H2, and even CO2). Moderate pressure competency enables the adoption of the simpler and much greener form of LNG known as Pressurized LNG (PLNG). The cellular configuration optimizes system cost and hull space utilization when storing cargo or fuel – meaning ships or barges can store and transport more in smaller hulls. The technology is intended to cost-effectively enable the global energy transition to cleaner fuels.

Supporting the need among researchers worldwide for additional online and multimedia content, ASME now offers the ASME Conference Video Collection. This platform will collect and provide long-term access to conference presentation videos, encompassing all technology areas within ASME's technical conference and events program. About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
