<p>As next generation of high-speed rail transportation, the high-speed maglev train has a design speed of 600km/h, whose Mach number is about 0.49. The severe aerodynamic effect caused by this high speed has a substantial impact on the train’s stability and safety. In this paper, the aerodynamic moment of the three-group maglev train under different conditions, such as two trains passing by each other in open air, one train passing through the tunnel and two trains meeting in the tunnel, are investigated by numerical simulation. For the purpose of getting transient moments acting on the train, this study adopted the layer dynamic mesh method and the k-ε turbulent model, and a user-defined function was compiled to defined the motion of maglev. The results show that the pitching moment is the most important factor for the steady of maglev trains running in the open air. The pitching moment changes slightly when two trains passing by each other but significantly when the maglev leaves the tunnel. The amplitude of yawing moment is always about 30~40 times the amplitude of the rolling moment when two trains passing by each other. However due to the existence of the tunnel wall, the frequency of rolling moment by the meeting of trains increases.</p>

This platform will collect and provide long-term access to conference presentation videos, encompassing all technology areas within ASME's technical conference and events program. About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
