As a part of European Commission Horizon 2020, GASVESSEL project develops offshore transport and distribution technologies for natural gas. Three scenarios have been identified in the project: East Mediterranean gas fields, Black Sea region and Barents Sea offshore oil field.Offloading hoses/flexible pipes are used to transfer compressed natural gas (CNG) from an intermediate&nbsp;floating storage and offloading unit (FSO) to CNG vessel (GASVESSEL). The floating hoses are subjected to&nbsp;environmental loads that are mainly waves, current, and vessel motions from both the FSO and the CNG&nbsp;vessel.&nbsp;In the present concept study, the feasibility of an offshore loading/unloading system of CNG transportation system in the Barents Sea is investigated under operational and critical sea-states. Relevant studies, regulations and guidelines have been reviewed.Preliminary design of loading/unloading system and dynamic positioning system has been performed. Un‐bonded flexible pipe is identified as a suitable alternative for the present study which requires high pressure (240 bar) and large diameter (Internal diameter 14''). Dynamic analysis of the loading/offloading hose and positioning analysis of the FSO and CNG vessel have been carried out numerically in this study.It is verified that the designed loading/unloading system and positioning system of the two vessels (FSO and CNG vessel) are able to operate safely under the sea‐state Hs=6 m&nbsp;within the defined&nbsp;ESD1 zone.

Supporting the need among researchers worldwide for additional online and multimedia content, ASME now offers the ASME Conference Video Collection. This platform will collect and provide long-term access to conference presentation videos, encompassing all technology areas within ASME's technical conference and events program. About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
