<p style="text-align: justify">Piezoelectric materials have been widely used in engineering solutions such as inducers and transducers; recently, piezoelectric ceramics and polymers have been used in the design of energy harvesting systems for low power consumption devices, in which scientific publications of experiments in aerodynamic flow figure in higher volume in detriment to hydrodynamic flow. This work determined the feasibility of energy harvesting by piezoelectric principle through fluid-induced movement, which can be adapted for applications in subsea environment. Four piezoelectric couplings equipped with PZT beams with 4 different geometric sections (sections O, DF1, DF2 and T) added to the end were subjected to flow with a speed varying between 0.49 - 1.31 m/s. The geometry that showed the best results was the assembly using DF1 geometry. In open circuit tests, the highest voltage values were obtained for the maximum speed of 1.31 m/s, generating voltage peaks of ≈9.0 V, and maximum displacements of ≈1.00 m; closed circuit tests produced 41.2 μWrms for a 50 kΩ resistive load. Tests with an energy harvesting system designed by the Laboratory of Subsea Tecnology (COPPE/UFRJ)&nbsp;allowed to power a LED. The results obtained demonstrated the feasibility of using an energy harvesting system to feed low consumption subsea devices.</p>

This platform will collect and provide long-term access to conference presentation videos, encompassing all technology areas within ASME's technical conference and events program. About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
