<p style="text-align: justify">The flow-through porous bodies/structure is one of the more advanced researches in the area of energy dissipation in coastal and civil engineering fields. The determination of the drag coefficient of a screen with varying porosities for the range of flow velocities, which may lead to the expression of damping ratio for a typical fluid-structure interaction problem subjected to fluid flow condition. An experimental study has been carried out to assess the drag coefficient for the porous screens. Six different screens with porosities of 4.4%, 6.8%, 9.2% 15%, 20% and 25% are used. Five screen pieces of each screen porosity are spaced inside a pipe at a regular spacing of 10cm between each. Each porous screen is subjected to flow pressure in the circular pipe. Two tanks/reservoirs are of size 45cm x 45cm in plan view and a height of 100cm is connected with a circular pipe. The water with a known head in one tank is allowed to flow through a pipe into the other tank. For every 2.5cm fall of water level, time is recorded continuously and continued until it reaches its equilibrium state. The effects of the damping nature of the screen for a particular range of Reynolds numbers have been studied in detail and, the salient results are herein reported.</p>

About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
