The development of a new 12 MW floating wind turbine is presented. The semi-submersible substructure has three columns with pontoons and decks connecting the columns. The tower is off-centred and placed over one of the three columns. The 12MW wind turbine is upscaled from the IEA10MW wind turbine.The new concept is tested in the Ocean Basin at SINTEF Ocean at a scale of 1:40. The Real-Time Hybrid Model (ReaTHM) test method was selected for the modelling of the rotor loads in the tests due to its high fidelity and flexibility. The performance of the rotor load actuation system is documented through dedicated tests.The behaviour of the concept is investigated experimentally by use of wave only tests with regular, bi-chromatic and irregular waves. Regular and bi-chromatic wave tests are aimed at identification of the points on the quadratic transfer function for the low-frequency motions. Systematic irregular wave tests are performed to study the influence of the wave height and the wave steepness on the platform motions and the loads at the base of the tower.The influence of the wind loads is studied experimentally by comparing tests without wind loads, with simplified wind loads and with true-to-scale wind loads. The values of interest studied are the platform motions, the loads at the base of the tower and the green water on deck.

This platform will collect and provide long-term access to conference presentation videos, encompassing all technology areas within ASME's technical conference and events program. About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
