<p>The JCSM - Jackup Combined Semisubmersible Multifunction Platform - concept is a new type of semisubmersible platform and a new low-cost life-long solution for the future deepsea oil and gas field exploitation developed by the first author previously, which overcomes the disadvantages of the available semisubmersible platforms, combines the advantages of the Jackup platform, the new FPSO concept - IQFP and the traditional semisubmersible platform. Due to the complicated interaction between stability and hydrodynamic performances, to obtain the optimal design plan of a JCSM platform, it is necessary to analyze the effect of geometrical parameters of the floating body on the stability and hydrodynamic performances. Firstly, the structure components and innovations of the JCSM were briefly introduced in order to facilitate readers to understand its full picture. Then, five independent geometrical parameters were selected by carefully studying the shape characteristics of the initial design plan of a JCSM case. Furthermore, metacentric heights and motion responses of the floating body of the JCSM in wave were calculated using Boundary element method based on potential flow theory．Then, effect of the shape parameters on stability and hydrodynamic performances of the JCSM vessel is qualitatively studied．Lastly, the optimized design scheme of the JCSM was determined. The research results would provide reference basis and guidelines for the practical engineering design of the main floating body of the JCSM.</p>

About 30,000-40,000 engineers across all mechanical engineering and related disciplines participate in ASME conferences each year. This includes authors of approximately 6,000 to 8,000 technical papers published by ASME, the majority of whom also submit video presentations for our virtual conferences. The video collection will be available as an add-on to existing product packages or as a separate subscription.
