Hard magnetic SrFe12O19 nanoplatelets (5×50 nm) and nanoblocks (7×20 nm) with perpendicular magnetic moment orientation are self-ordered on silicon and flexible cellulose substrates from the surfactant-free colloids with spray drying technique. Uniform magnetic coatings with a thickness controlled from a monolayer coverage to ~50 nm have formed by pulsed spray deposition. Preferred in-plane orientation of &gt;80% for nanoplatelets and up to 75% of nanoblocks was revealed by GIWAXS in the deposited films, with orientational ordering diminishing on increasing film thickness. The high coercivity of the films of up to 5 kOe and high perpendicular anisotropy of MR-perp/MS&gt;80% are provided with the proposed method. Application of the magnetic field during film deposition enables additional improvement in perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and the appearance of residual magnetization in the film of up to 0,6 MS. Reducing the aspect ratio of the magnetic particle shape (e.g., nanoblocks) allows forming of a semblance of an opal-like structure under the action of an external magnetic field.
