Kinetic and mechanistic analysis of chemical reactions improves process understanding and facilitates predictive kinetic modelling to enable efficient process optimization and characterization. Amgen has engaged this approach across small molecule synthetic portfolio and throughout the development cycle. Implementation and standardization of investigations into reaction kinetics and mechanism will be discussed highlighting impact that the knowledge gained through these techniques has had during our process development efforts.
