A new portable multichannel analyzer has been designed for indoor air quality measurements that includes a photoionization detector (PID) for total VOC’s, dual beam IR sensor for CO2, an electrochemical sensor for O3 and a light scattering photometer for PM 2.5-10. This portable analyzer can be used to survey the air quality in many indoor spaces for numerous applications. The National Institute for Health has reported that CO2 levels at 1000 ppm, people’s judgement skills can be impaired. CO2 levels can be reduced through HVAC by increasing outside air ventilation (if the outside air CO2 is low). As a result of COVID-19, there are many low cost particulate and VOC reduction systems which require periodic checks and replacement of the particulate and activated carbon based filters. For those areas like hospitals where O3 is used for decontamination, this same analyzer can be used to detect ppb and low ppm of O3. This low cost four-in-one compact tool is easy to use and is ideal for daily multipurpose use by Environmental Health & Safety teams.
