This talk will focus on some recent initiatives for increasing equity, diversity and inclusion in the chemical and biochemical sciences from a departmental perspective. The multi-prong approach involves a collaborative effort with the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Division of Physical Sciences. First, developing hiring practices that result in the recruitment of EDI aware faculty who are committed to making changes through their research, teaching, service and outreach activities. Second, establishing leadership positions within the department that support EDI.  Third, highlighting EDI committee work and infusing EDI in all aspects of departmental activities.
