The challenges facing societies and governments are tremendously complex, from coronavirus to climate change and cybersecurity. Yet public office remains a rare path for scientists, most of whom sparsely interact with the political system beyond voting or advising officeholders. This poster seeks to inspire chemists at every career stage to get more involved in civic life and public service. Through the lens of chemists in local, state, and federal offices, attendees will learn about the breadth of opportunities to serve, the unique skills that chemists bring to public office, and the resources that exist to support them.
