Aziridines polymerize exclusively via a cationic mechanism to form a hyperbranched polymer. In contrast, <i>N</i>-sulfonylaziridines polymerize via anionic ring-opening polymerization (AROP) to form linear poly(sulfonylaziridines), although subsequent removal of the sulfonyl group remains problematic. In this work, the polymerization of aziridines with non-sulfonyl electron withdrawing groups is reported. The kinetics of the polymerizations will be discussed and evidence of chain transfer presented.
