Strategic planning creates a framework for the analytical basis of decision making and helps focus attention on what matters most for an organization. It’s a disciplined, creative process for determining how to take an organization from where it is now to where we want it to be in the future. To focus the entire organization on strategy and create a line-of-sight between the work people do and the high level desired results, the strategy must be cascaded down through the organization, making goals and performance measures more operational and tactical. This talk will describe how the society’s high level strategy is translated by its component units via a proven strategic planning process.
