Cascade reactions are utilized to construct multiple bonds from readily accessible reactive handles. We developed a deaminative cascade reaction where a tertiary amine moiety templates the formation of an alkyl C–C or alkene C=C bond. The amine excision process is enabled by iterative amine methylation events that occur <i>in situ</i>. Here we will present strategies that use amine synthesis logic to build cyclic molecules that are converted into ring contracted heterocycles and natural products by deaminative cascade reactions.
