Fuel cells have many applications, but one important use of hydrogen fuel cells is the replacement of combustion engines in automobiles. To have an efficient fuel cell, the cathode support of the fuel cell must be conducting and stable in acid. Multiple compounds were synthesized using the formula Ti1-x-yMoxM’yO2 with M’ as Ru, Zr, Rh, Zn, Fe, Mn, Co, Ni, Ba, Bi, In, Ga, Sn, and varying ratios of x and y. The syntheses were performed by mixing metals and metal oxide powders and placing them in a quartz tube under vacuum at 1100 °C for 144 hours. The products were characterized by powdered X-ray diffraction and tested in acid for their stability and resistivity.
