A new approach to nickel-catalyzed three-component 1,2-arylthiolation of unactivated alkenes is reported, enabled by a novel N–S electrophile with precisely tailored reactivity. The protocol tolerates a wide range of coupling partners with various substitution patterns. Computational studies revealed correlations between the computed nitrogen–sulfur bonds strength and the product yield.
