Fluorophores enable numerous advances in biochemical and cell biological processes. Xanthene-based dyes are widely used fluorophores. Rh110 being a xanthene dye is likewise known for its unique applications. Nowadays research for the search of latent fluorophore has been carried out, because of its advantage over conventional fluorophores which exhibit bulk fluorescence leading to missing important information in experiments. Among all xanthene dyes, Rh110 is widely used for this purpose because it carries more reactive amino groups. However, its industrial preparation in pure form is quite challenging. Industrially it is synthesis by condensation reaction between phthalic anhydride and m-aminophenol which has tremendous challenges such as susceptibility of substrates to oxidation at high temperatures, more synthesis time, and accompanying side reactions leading to low product purity. This problem can be easily solved by de-ethylation of RhB as it is less expensive than Rh110. Here, we report the synthesis of a composite Bi3TaO7-Bi4TaO8Br containing two important light-responsive phases, Bi3TaO7 and Bi4TaO8Br under ambient air condition and use it for photocatalytic conversion of RhB to Rh 110 with a yield of up to 83% under ambient condition (room temperature and pH =7) and purity as good as commercial ones. Here we further report the recyclability of catalysts up to 60 cycles.
