The introduction of heteroatoms across substituted alkenes through C-H activation is a very important process for the synthesis of complex molecules. Despite the large number of available methods, very few rely on well-defined metal complexes as the active delivery agent. Our group is interested in inventing new chemical reactions by exploiting the chemical properties of stable metallooxaziridines. These efforts have allowed for the development of catalytic reaction conditions for the steoreselective amination of substituted alkenes through remote C-H activation. Efforts for the elucidation of the reaction mechanism for this process are in progress.
