PFAS compounds, utilized in a large array of materials from industry to household products, have been found to potentially harm the health of the human population. Given their stability, these compounds have the capability to accumulate in the environment. For this reason, it is ideal to determine functionalized materials in which to remove these stable compounds from the environment. Graphene and graphene oxide are widely used in water contaminant removal processes. In this ethos, graphene substituted materials will be examined to determine the effect of functionalization on PFAS adsorption and removal. Functionalization’s will be comprised of fluorinated graphene and modified graphene oxides (including amine and alkane groups).  Support for this project comes from OUSD(R&E) for funding and HPC resources at ERDC, NRL and AFRL.
