Sound Spectral Analysis is a technology where the sound emitted by a specific source (eg. a reactor or a mill) is measured and analysed looking at frequency side shifts or sound intensity variations during a pharmaceutical manufacturing process, using simple tools such as freeware and common computers.<br/>In addition, Process Analytical Technology (PAT) can be defined as a system to measure Critical Process Parameters (CPP) affecting Critical Quality Attributes (CQA) of pharmaceutical products during development and manufacturing, following the principles of Quality by Design (QbD).<br/>In this poster, the main characteristics of Sound Spectral Analysis as a PAT tool for the development and manufacturing control of pharmaceutical formulations are explained and discussed, as well as some representative examples such as active pharmaceutical ingredients grinding and phase emulsion.<br/>A logical decision tree to determine when to use Sound Spectral Analysis as a PAT tool is also presented and every single step is described.
