Iron plays an essential role the plant development and growth. Several studies have indicated that the effects of nanomaterials cannot be generalized and are attributed to various parameters such as nanomaterial, exposure method, plant species, and duration of growth. Therefore, in this study, various forms of iron oxide nanomaterials were synthesized and characterized using x-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The nanomaterials were then applied to candyland red tomatoes (<i>solanum lycopersicum</i>) via foliar application and grown to full maturity. The plants’ response to the nanomaterials were monitored and evaluated throughout the growth period and post-harvest. The effects of the various nanomaterials on the micronutrient and macronutrient distribution throughout the plants and fruit are being investigated. Moreover, the bioactive compounds in the fruit (lycopene, β-carotene, total phenols, and flavonoids) will also be studied. The results of the current experiments will be discussed in greater detail during the conference.
