This talk discusses how I was inspired by Jennifer E. Lewis to become more active in 4-year and national Chemistry communities because my voice and experience as a community college professor *did* matter. This talk will mix reflection on discussions with Jennifer over the years with how those discussions prompted me to be more vocal and more engaged with the larger international community. This talk will also discuss how our intersectional identities and circumstances can lead to oppression or liberation on a larger stage and how mentors and community in our lives can inspire us to be our best selves.
