This talk will describe how combined differential interference contrast and fluorescence microscopies can be used for single-particle tracking of targeting gold nanoconstructs on cancer cell membranes. The observed differences in translational and rotational motions between spherical and star-shaped nanoconstructs indicate that the scaffold geometry affects how targeting ligands present and bind to cell-membrane receptors.
