As a student chapter of the American Chemical Society, the FIU-BBC Student Chapter has provided members and the community an equal opportunity to teach and learn from one another. Bonds between chapter members grew stronger this past year by creating events that benefited our student community that kept us connected, despite being away from each other due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Our bonds within the South Florida community have continued to grow  through volunteering and hosting safe projects for the community. Through this mutual scientific interest, the FIU-BBC Student Chapter continues to host engaging events in which members are given opportunities to grow their professional and social networks. These events range from Q/A sessions to guest speakers in STEM fields. Furthermore, the chapter partnered with a variety of organizations. These partnerships range from the South Florida Local Section, other local ACS Student Chapters, FIU organizations, the local ACS YCC, and the FIU’s College of Arts, Sciences and Education. Collaboration with these organizations allowed our student members to reach out to underserved communities in South Florida by adapting some of our activities for virtual delivery until it was safe to offer in person events. At these events, members were able to interact with families in hopes that participants grow an affinity for the STEM field strong enough for young students to pursue a career in STEM. Student members also became an inspiration to younger groups such as the Girl Scouts of South Florida.
