Supramolecular catalysis has drawn incredible interest in the past few year. Out of various supramolecules, calixarenes are considered an ideal macrocyclic scaffold due to their three-dimensional shape and ease of the lower and upper rim functionalization. Calixarenes' synthetic flexibility makes them suitable candidates for a wide range of applications that include molecular recognition, sensors, catalysis, drug delivery, and separation science. Interestingly their hydrogen bond donating ability and noncovalent interaction make them active organaocatalysis. Upon attaching chiral functionalities to the calixarene scaffold, they could act as asymmetric organocatalysts for C-C bond forming reactions.<br/>The current poster presentation will show new class of calixarene-based chiral organocatalysts derived from cinchonine. These new catalysts show high reactivity towards asymmetric Michael addition reaction of nitro styrenes under mild conditions. The corresponding adducts were obtained in good to excellent yield (~99%) with high enantioselectivities (&gt;99% ee ).
