Cu/CeO2 catalyst for carbon monoxide oxidation was synthesized by four different methods which are impregnation, sol-gel, coprecipitation and solution combustion synthesis to investigate the structure-activity relationship. The composition of catalysts was studied by EDX, their crystallinity was investigated by XRD and their textural properties were examined by N2-physisorption experiments. Furthermore, their catalytic performance towards CO oxidation was studied. Among them, Cu-CeO2-Comb. revealed the best performance which was attributed to the high surface area, high porosity and strong interaction between catalyst and support. The obtained data showed that Cu/CeO2 catalyst can be used as substitute for noble-metal-based catalysts for low-temperature CO oxidation reaction.
