The activation of Si-H and Si-Si bonds plays an important role in transition metal catalyzed reactions such as hydrosilylations, bissilylations or the dehydrogenative coupling of hydrosilanes. Here, we report the results of some of our studies utilizing the mononuclear platinum(0) complex, [Pt(CO)2(dcpFe)], dcpFe = bis(dicyclohexylphosphino)ferrocene (1). In solution under nitrogen, complex (1) decarbonylates readily to generate [Pt(CO)(dcpFe)] (2) after prolonged reaction time. Complex (2) has a trigonal planar geometry and is isostructural with the previously crystallographically characterized complex, [Pt(dtbpFe)(CO)], dtbpFe = bis(di-t-butylphosphino)ferrocene. Treatment of (1) or (2) with phenylsilane or diphenylsilane yield hydrido-silyl complexes, [Pt(H)(SiR2H)dcpFe] (3, R=H, Ph; or 4, R=Ph, Ph) which were all characterized by IR and multinuclear NMR specgtroscopy.
