Mark joined Kingsport’s Tennessee Eastman Corporation in 1973 as a dye chemist, and although an enthusiastic researcher, he soon expressed an interest in business development. That took him to a path that led to a temporary assignment in Rochester, back to a leadership position in Kingsport in the newly-formed Eastman Fine Chemicals Business Organization, and to ultimately leaving Eastman for greener pastures. He was always a leader within the Northeast Tennessee Section, serving every year he was here in some important capacity, including Chair in 1979-1980. His influence in NETS-ACS was profound: much of what he put in place led to the Section’s recognition as the Outstanding Section in the Medium Size category in 1992 and 1993. His friends here, as elsewhere, will always remember him for his enthusiasm, his sense of humor, and most of all, for his kindness.
