Pyrolyzed photoresin electrodes (PPEs) are known to exhibit electrochemical behavior similar to commercial glassy carbon electrodes and are therefore important in myriad electroanalytical applications. Here we report a simple method to PPEs that only requires a desktop 3D printer and tube furnace. Electrodes were first printed onto a quartz slide using a photoresin that contains carbon before being pyrolyzed to produce a carbon electrode with X and Y dimensions ranging from mm to a minimum feature size of approximately 200 µm. Without the need for specialized equipment or training, this simple method improves the accessibility and cost of preparing PPEs. The PPEs were characterized using a suite of analytical techniques that included cyclic voltammetry, atomic force microscopy, raman spectroscopy, and stylus profilometry to establish the capabilities and limitations of this fabrication procedure.
