Transformation of organic substrates into a myriad of value added products represents an exciting avenue of investigation. Hydrofunctionalization reactions such as hydroboration and hydrosilylation have been extensively studied with transition metals for functionalization of alkenes, carbonyls, and alkynes. Amides are one of the least reactive derivatives of carboxylic acids; though efforts have been successfully made in recent times. The conversion of amides into amines is a lucrative transformation as it allows access to a library of substrates that have significant importance in pharmaceutical, agrochemical and materials industry.  Herein, we present our current efforts in hydroboration chemistry employing lanthanum catalysis for the deoxygenation of 3°, 2°, and 1° amides. Moreover, this method was capable of carrying out the hydroboration of esters.
