The use of cyanoacrylate ester (CA) fuming to reveal latent fingerprints can be a multistep process including subsequent fuming and fluorescent staining steps. Toward simplying this workflow and allowing forensic analysts greater processing flexibiliy, we explored the use of benzoic acid derivatives as luminescent sublimation dyes and identified two new potential dyes.
