I came to the University of Wyoming in 2000 and met Jane Thomas first through the local Wyoming ACS chapter. It was a simpler time and we held monthly WYACS executive meetings in the Western Research Institute building on campus. I remember being impressed with the enthusiasm Jane displayed toward the local Wyoming section. I came to know about Jane’s analytical company through students that worked with me at the university and worked with Jane at her company. The establishment of companies like Jane’s are greatly needed in Wyoming to diversify the economy and give students who want to stay in Wyoming a place to work and pursue chemistry careers. For many years I would bump into Jane and Ken at the pancake breakfast during Laramie Jubilee days or at J. W. Hugus & Co. restaurant in Saratoga, WY. I will speak about Jane’s contributions to the University of Wyoming.
